Jomon Kuriakose, known as Chef Jomon, is a celebrated culinary expert based in Basildon, England. His exceptional skills have been featured on the UK's most-watched BBC programs, earning him the 'News of the Year 2019' award from British Malayali. Beyond his culinary pursuits, Jomon is passionately engaged in global charity work. In 2019, he undertook a sky diving challenge with the British Malayali Charity Foundation to support financially disadvantaged nursing students in India.
The Craft Guild of Chefs honoured him as a "Culinary Hero" in 2021 for his commitment to the community. Jomon has also reached the semi-finals of the National Chef of the Year competition,consistently demonstrating outstanding public service.
Born and raised in South India, Jomon holds a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management from SIHA, Mangalore University. His career began as a Chef de Partie at Sigree with SRPL in India. He gained further experience with Taj Group Hotels in Mangalore and in Dubai. Moving to London, he worked as a Chef de Partie at Bombay Palace, refining his expertise in authentic Indian cuisine and Anglo-Indian fine dining.
In 2012, Jomon joined Cinnamon Kitchen in London as a Senior Chef de Partie and was later promoted to Sous Chef under Executive Chef and CEO Vivek Singh. In 2017, he became the Chef de Cuisine atBaluchi at the Lalit London and rose to Executive Chef by July 2022, becoming one of the youngest Executve Chef in the country. Currently, he is the Director of Culinary at an international restaurant chain named The Tiffin Box. where he blends Kerala's natural Flavors with modern presentation.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Chef Jomonsupported the British Malayali Charity Foundation's 'Covid Support Appeal,'ensuring aid reached those in need in South India through meticulous verification. His dedication to education and mentorship was evident in a virtual cookery class with food plating demonstrations in July 2021, supporting the BMCF's mission.
